The possibilities are endless when you add the students as photographers to your lesson plans. Atleast in the elementary arena. Lots of neat bulletin boards, graphs, and powerpoints pop into my head. The students will love taking pictures and sharing them with their classmates.
Compound words - making the gifted students create their own compound word and take a picture of it will be fun.
Bar graphs - students love to share about their pets or stuffed animals.
Verbs - creating a photo-bet of a verb will be fun for the students and hopefully their parents! Taking a picture of their verb in action will hopefully help make what a verb is stick into their memories better!
Geometric Shapes - big skill on ISTEP. maybe this will give them a new look on their surroundings. :)
Those were just the four areas I chose. I know that the possibilites are endless!

I did not think that making the lesson plans was very challenging for me. I can see many ways that students can be photographers in many lessons in second grade. The students will love it plus it will help aid memory because they will be directly involved in the lesson some by taking pictures to create the lesson other times by taking pictures to apply what they have learned.
ReplyDeleteI am not teaching right now, but I am sending some of these lesson plans to a friend who teaches second grade. She is going to "try" them out for me! :)
